I recently read an article in a medical journal, that had an interesting correlation. This article stated that autism which is predominately a male sickness is caused by mercury toxicity when an infant or young child was given a vaccination(nearly all vaccinations including the flu shots have mercury in them), however it seems that autism is becoming more prevalent these days.. and the question was why? the proposed answer was that this is due to the sedentary lifestyles of the population(meaning staying indoors), and the population becoming more and more vitamin D deficient. Or that the pregnant mother didnt take enough and or pass enough vitamin D onto her child.
Vitamin D is what removes mercury from the body. Vitamin D is also something the body generates from a 5-10 minute walk in the Sun .(depending on melanin or skin color) The darker skin you have the better protection you have from the suns rays; but also the longer you need to be out in the sun to absorb the same amount as a lighter skinned person.

It sounds like a viable correlation...I didn't know that's what caused autism.

Actually what causes autism is the crap the FDA tries to force down our throats. And then the idiots try to tell us NOT to take so much vitamin D.
Sorry FDA. You can shove your lying heads up your ass! Were gonna take Vitamin D because its necessarily!

*sigh* Why does none of this surprise me, I've been sayin it for years. If I had the money and resources I would switch to a whole foods lifestyle, ditch the vitamins and get my minerals and vitamins straight from their sources!!! Myr, I agree with you, except I am not sorry to the FDA. I think they suck!! Scientist makes drugs, FDA aprroves them, docs prescribe/recommend them, patient develops new symptoms, scientist makes drugs, FDA approves them, docs prescribe/recommend them, patient develops new symptom...... vicious cycle.....

The increase in ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) may just be due to better diagnosis. There seems to be a high correlation between mercury & ASD but nothing I've read convinces me that Thimerosal is a cause,

actually, in contrast to the mercury correlation, there has been a high correlation between the elevated methyl status(which works as a stop code, keeping the gene from being expressed) around a certain gene (the OXTR gene, which is responsible for encoding oxytocin, an enzyme necessary for social developement). The correlation is about 79% suggesting that a broad spectrum of autim disorders are epigenetically related, and heritable. It was also noted that autism has a strong environmental link (being that of the mercury or not), which accounts for about 13% leaving the rest unknown.
My source, Human genetics class, but im sure you can find the studies leading to these stats in medical news journals, i believe as recent as october 22, 2009.

According to the Merriam-Webster's Medical Desk Dictionary...
"Oxytocin: a octapeptide hormone (C43H66N12O12S2) secreted by the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland that stimulates the contraction of uterine muscle and the scretion of milk -- called also alpha-hypophamine"
So, in short, oxytocin is a hormone that stimulated the secretion of breat milk, not something found in breast milk itself. Oxytocin also starts the labor process.

Vaccinations are a tricky subject. When my son was getting them I wondered why they didn't space out the shots a bit at least. Nothing like seeing a baby get 4 shots in one visit to make one wonder. I completely agree about the FDA being seemingly corrupted. Read a book called The China Study sometime. Surprisingly quick and easy of a read given that it is more about research and less about any actual story. It touches on the practices of some of the government agencies that tell us what to consume. Also go to Ted.com and check out the Mark Bittman bit ( direct link to video). Very interesting stuff. I personally think that vaccinations in and of themselves are not the issue. But that they are one piece in the autism puzzle which includes other nutritional questions as well. Not to mention genetics. Too little to jump to vaccinations being the key, too much to jump away from vaccinations having any possible negative, possibly autism inflicting, effects. As for raw, I brought a raw vegan friend of mine to a Gathering once. Interesting energy to say the least. She is pretty tuned in and was amazed at what she was picking up in the room. And others were immensely attracted to her. One was actually caught tapping into her a bit. But I think it was his intense curiosity to what she gave off and not an intentional attempt to feed. Just a taste perhaps, if it could be worded as such.

I mean...anyone with a brain stem can see how the FDA approves drugs and only after people die do they take it off the market.
